The New York State Society of Anesthesiologists, Inc. (NYSSA) is an organization of physicians and scientists dedicated to advancing the specialty of anesthesiology and providing the safest and highest quality patient care to the citizens of New York State.

The New York State Society of Anesthesiologists, Inc., (NYSSA) was chartered on February 28, 1948 as a recognized component society of The American Society of Anesthesiologists, Inc., (ASA) in the State of New York. NYSSA was incorporated in 1958 as a voluntary, non-profit association of physicians interested in the medical specialty of Anesthesiology. Membership is a privilege, not a right to which any individual is entitled by reason of licensure, certification or whatever, as provided in its Bylaws. A History of the Society can be traced through the formation of the ASA back to 1905 as the Long Island Society of Anesthetists.

The PostGraduate Assembly in Anesthesiology (PGA), held in December as the Society's Annual Meeting since 1945, promotes the educational mission of the NYSSA to provide a comprehensive integrated program of continuing medical education pertinent to the practice of anesthesiology.
