Statement of Educational Mission

The Continuing Medical Education and Remediation Program (CME&R) of The New York State Society of Anesthesiologists, Inc., is dedicated to enhancing the standards of the specialty by sponsoring quality CME activities designed at encouraging education, research and scientific investigation in anesthesiology.
The scope of the NYSSA's CME program is to provide a comprehensive integrated program designed to address the full spectrum of perioperative medicine, anesthetic management, and critical care. Diverse educational aspects include, but are not limited to, perioperative evaluation, relief of pain and suffering, support of physiologic homeostasis, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Also included are activities designed to enhance knowledge of the changing health care marketplace and economic impact on the specialty of anesthesiology.
The educational program is designed to address the continuing medical educational needs of health care professionals dedicated to the provision of anesthesia and perioperative medicine. These programs will specifically meet the needs of anesthesiologists, intensivists, anesthesiology residents, certified registered nurse anesthetists, medical students, physician assistants, respiratory therapists and anesthesia assistants.
The program utilizes a wide range of educational platforms to meet the needs of its participants. Modalities include, but are not limited to, large plenary didactic sessions, interactive hands-on workshops, small group discussions of problem-based learning, small interactive focused group discussions, simulation modalities as well as scientific free papers and exhibits. The Continuing Medical Education and Remediation Program (CME&R) of The New York State Society of Anesthesiologists, Inc., is committed to insuring effectiveness of its programs through evaluations, focus groups, feedback and follow-up analysis of impact on professional performance.
