Residents & Fellows

Our aim is to create an accessible platform for information on upcoming conferences and events, opportunities for involvement and continued advocacy for our specialty.

We want to provide the tools to enhance the resident and fellow experience by creating a supportive environment for collaboration, links to mentorship, networking and career development.

As future anesthesiologists in a healthcare system that is continuously evolving, we have an important role to play in the development of our specialty. We hope this forum can increase awareness and participation in advocacy within anesthesiology and facilitate you in furthering your career goals.

The Resident and Fellow Section of the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists, are eager to announce the 2020-2021 Elections. 

The following positions are open for the June 2020-June 2021 session:

President-Elect (1): A 2 year commitment.  Resident will serve as president-elect from June 2020 to June 2021.  The following year, the resident will take over as President, and will serve there until June 2022.  Applicants must be entering their CA-2 year (are currently at the end of CA-1), and must be willing to serve the two year term.  Responsibilities include working beside the president for the year and learning the associated responsibilities, taking a large role in the planning and organization of events throughout the year, attending ASA/NYSSA conferences and events throughout the year.

Secretary (1): A 1 year commitment.  All years welcome to apply.  The role of Secretary will include but not but be limited to: managing the NYSSA-RFS email account, coordinating and delegating all email correspondence, managing record keeping at all meetings and events.

Content and Outreach Coordinator (1): A 1 year commitment.  All years welcome to apply.  This resident will be responsible for managing all NYSSA-RFS social media content (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) posting with pertinent anesthesia news, resident updates, useful facts, etc.. Must be well versed in using all apps, and must possess the skills to professionally reflect all of the exciting events and updates we have to share. Also will be responsible of coordinating pieces (with help) for the NYSSA quarterly publication Sphere and will be in charge of any writing for similar opportunities/publications if they arise.

Event Coordinator (1): A 1 year commitment.  All years welcome to apply.  NYSSA RFS organizes at least 1 event per quarter, and ideally we would like one resident in this committee to be in charge of each event.  That resident will delegate responsibilities needed to plan and put on the event, and will delegate to the secretary in order to distribute all necessary invites/materials.  This job will involve communicating frequently with the president/president elect and the rest of the RFS leadership.  Must be comfortable reaching out to venues, coordinating event attendance, and communicating effectively with the team.
